The website “My Taxes” (kolkodavam.bg) is maintained by the Institute for Market Economics (IME) and was created with the support of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF).


For over a decade the IME has been publishing an annual alternative state budget that is based on low taxes, sustainable public finances, public sector reforms, economic growth and more freedom of choice. One part of IME’s alternative budget is the so called “tax receipt”, which presents Bulgarian taxpayers with a calculation of the public expenditures made on their behalf by the government. Precisely this receipt is at the core of the “My Taxes” website.

The Institute for Market Economics (IME) is the first independent economic think-tank in Bulgaria. The Institute was officially registered as an NGO on March 15th, 1993.

IME’s mission is to develop and protect the market based approach to overcoming the challenges that citizens of Bulgaria and the region face. IME’s goals are to provide independent assessment and analysis of government policies, as well as to serve as a platform for the exchange of opinion of various economists and observers.

The Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF) is a German political foundation that promotes the principles of liberal democracy through many projects in the field of the civic education and by political consultations conducted in more than 60 countries worldwide the principals of liberal democracy.

The Project Office for Southeast Europe of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom covers Bulgaria, Macedonia, Romania and Moldova and it is based in Sofia. The main core issues of the Foundation’s work with in thise region are entrepreneurship and economic independence, transparency and anticorruption, media freedom and education.
